Limited Natural Dye Ribbon Kit
You have a choice of:
- 1 sari ribbon and choice of color
- 1 chiffon ribbon and 1 sari silk ribbon and choice of color
These limited kits were made so that you can learn how to naturally dye ribbon on your own! This is exactly how Chrysteen dyes her ribbon and she wanted to share it with you!
Each kit will include, your choice of dye, your choice of chiffon silk ribbon and/or silk sari ribbon, aluminum sulfate, a dust mask, gloves, and detailed written instructions on how to dye the ribbon.
There is enough mordant and dye extract to dye 2 ribbons or 1 ribbon and something else on your own.
The picture under the listed dye extract is around the expected color you should get. I carry some extra dyes in my shop, but I will also have extra resource recommendations in the booklet for the dyes, mordants, more information and ribbon! I will also have some recommendations on how you can try to brighten up the colors. I try not to go into too much detail so I don't confuse you.
This ribbon is from recycled sari silk and recycled chiffon from India. The width varies from .5"-1.5" and will be sewn to another piece every yard. I work with Linda from Silk Divine and she is lovely to work with.
Why natural dye? So many reasons! Dyeing naturally is better for the environment. Everything in moderation, of course. Once you learn the basics of scouring, mordanting, and dyeing your ribbon, you can then use kitchen waste or materials and flowers from your backyard to dye materials. The possibilities are endless! I also feel like you get that earthy tone that you can't get from synthetic dyes. Lastly, it's extremely relaxing and fulfilling to create your own color on ribbon.
